Vacation Day Three: The Half-Way Mark

How, you may ask, is The Sheep coming along with the extensive repair work on sock #2?

To quote The Stoned Knitter: 'Nuff Said.
The bunny's last words were, "'Tis a far, far better thing I do than I have ever done before." The sock has been set aside for the time being. Karma is still not with me. I really did try and I'm actually pretty close to a solution. However this is a frustrating process and when, after the third attempt at reconstruction, I found myself searching the house for implements with which to end it all I realized several things. First, I live a very vanilla existence that is not conducive to dramatic shufflings off of the mortal coil. Secondly, the idea of bludgeoning myself repeatedly with a niddy noddy seems tiring and painful. Thirdly, I am simply too lazy to clean my condo for the horde of grief-stricken folk who would converge upon my home to catch a last glimpse of my much-beloved form. It was all just too much work. Easier to move on.
I awoke today with something of a headache. Not surprising as I spent a good part of yesterday seeing little sparkling things out of the corner of my eye and trying to find the source of the phantom "burn smell." In addition, there was the whole Sock Of despair thing...
So, today I decided to take it easy and try some different diversions. I pulled out some silk that I've had lying about since last fall and set about to do some dyeing. The original plan was to handpaint it, but I just wasn't feeling up to it. So I switched the whole plan over to rainbow dyeing. I kind of like doing this as you never really know what you're going to end up with.

Mmmmm...Silk Soup!

Truthfully, the whole thing didn't really take well and there is alot of white left in the mix. I'm going to recard it once it dries and blend the colors a bit better so it will be fine in the end. As I said, half the fun is the surprise, be it pleasant or not. (yeah, Sheepie, keep telling yourself that...)

I also spent some time hookin' Oh, stop it...what are you twelve? I hear you giggling out there. No, there is not suddenly a market in the seamy underworld for middle-aged spinsters. Rug hooking! Sheesh! :) I'm liking the bigger hoop as it is giving me more space on which to work. I haven't tried the other frame that I picked up the other day as I seem to be having a good run with this one. This does not seem like the best time to be tweaking the system. You know, what with the bad karma and all...

So now we head into the downward slide towards regular workdays. Tomorrow, assuming that the headache is over, I'll try to finish a few of the many, many things that I said I'd get done in this week of freedom. Friday is oil change and "Doctor Judy" day so I may not be able to attend to my hobbies in the manner to which I have become accustomed.

Sigh...it's all so fleeting!

Thanks for the compliment on the Arizona Lace Socks.

Could you send me a pic if you do knit them up?
