Dodging The Bullet...or responsibility

Welcome to Wednesday and the weekly flinging of random bullets for your bloggy entertainment.  I shan't keep you in suspense regarding whether or not I went into school today to do all that unpacking I keep yammering on about.  It's not even worth the bullet point.  I didn't.  I think we all knew that deep down...

Here's the day's highlights:

*If you really think about it, my not going into school today is perfectly consistent with Plan #2 that I came up with on Monday to avoid having to go into school.

*That makes me a Plan Follower.

*Let's not examine that little bit of self-delusion too closely.  I really do have to go into school tomorrow and I can't afford to be in a spiral of shame at this crucial time.

*Here's the Absurdly Gi-normous Kitty doing that thing he does best:

Asserting his dominance over all things technological.

*Now he's just doing it right in front of me.  Not that I wouldn't have figured it out anyway...

He's messing with my world order here!  I don't have time for this kind of thing!  I have to go back to work soon!!!

*Since I wasn't going into school today anyway, I thought I'd take a nice, relaxing bath instead of a shower this morning.  Might as well enjoy the time to myself while I have it!

*Before I did so, though, I had a very stern discussion with the AGK regarding his behavior.

*He was a little bit "fired up" after the whole computer thing...

*I was not very effective in my parenting.  He decided that, if I wasn't going to get in the spirit of things, then he'd just stalk his sister, the Big, Fluffy Kitty, for a while.

*She seemed to take it fairly well.  But you could tell she was annoyed.

*I was roused from my nice warm tub by a screech similar to something you might hear on a wildlife special.  It was like a Big, Fluffy Puma was loose in the house.

*End of nice, relaxing bath...

*As penance for not going into school today, I went Back-To-School shopping.  I got a new alarm clock since the one I've had since high school doesn't seem to be anything I can hear after all these years.  I've learned to tune it out.

*This one makes barnyard noises.  That should get my attention...

*I broke out the spinning wheel today so I could get in a little of the yarn making.  I'm running out of ways to distract you from the fact that all I am doing these days is crocheting the same row over and over and over and over...

*In laceweight.

*I didn't spin very much.  Maybe I should stay home tomorrow and spin.  I can't keep letting you guys down like this!

*That is a dangerous train of thought.  Must let that one go...

*I also went to The Farmer's Market today after all the school-type shopping.  I was tired, though and didn't get much:

Local peaches and a wee, baby watermelon.

*Because really...when hear the word, "peaches" you just can't help but think, "Maine!"

*They are actually quite good.

*I also got some potatoes, but you've been looking at my potato purchases for two months now and I could see how you might be kind of sick of the 'taters.

*Did I mention that the AGK was kind of fired up this morning?

There used to be a nice valance here.

*The windows aren't really dirty.  There's some condensation on there. But it's outside and I can't get to it.  Or I don't want to go to the trouble of getting to it.  Or I used to have a valance that distracted me from seeing the condensation on the windows...

*Absurdly Gi-normous Kitties who have gained some weight over the last couple of months should not hang from valances.  Gravity is a powerful force.

*The Big, Fluffy Puma had pretty much found a safe spot in the nappin' basket by then.

She was not amused.

Happy Wednesday, Guys!  Hope yours was peaceful and that your valences remain in the place where you hung 'em.  Or that your kitties are not quite so fired up.

And Absurdly Gi-normous...

I have come home from work and found my 12 pound cats sitting on the valance looking at me like "what?". They pulled the rod out of the wall once and now it's up there with super strong bolts. You'd think they'd get tired of these things as they get older. You'd be wrong. I had a cat who used to sit on top of the bentwood coat rack. I have no idea how she got up there. I wish I had their sense of balance (well, maybe not Calvin's. He fell off a shelf and broke his leg and dislocated his knee)

Yes, I do always think about Maine when I think of peaches fresh from the tree. Maine is near Georgia, right?

My MLK (mountain lion kitty) has been especially wild this week...in the middle of the night last night she decided it would be a good idea to attack my feet. I have an inch+ gash at the base of my big toe, right where my sandals were rubbing all day...I think we should make sure that MLK and AGK never meet!

I have not had living room curtains for several years. Peaches (my kitty, not your farmer's market purchase) used to climb them and sit on the curtain rods. After having to rehang the rods and curtains several times, we just gave up. We still have no curtains even though Peaches calmed down about five years ago (we do have blinds; wouldn't want our crazy neighbors to be looking in)

We currently have no curtains and no curtain rods on any of the downstairs windows. This is a nice effect and certainly deprives the kittyboys of their jungle gyms. We found some gorgeous drapes but won't get them, because they don't look cat-claw-resistant.
Hi-Hi has been bear hunting lately. He crows madly every time he kills him a b'ar! Shoulda named him Davy Crock-cat...

Maine peaches, yeah, makes perfect sense. The Appalachian Trail begins down in Georgia, the Land of Plentiful Peaches, so as you hike in a northerly direction, you bring along with you the essence of good peach growing goodness ending up at the northernmost part of the Trail, up there in Maine.

This also accounts for the great Georgia lobsters: the lobster attracting essence follows the southbound hikers down the trail.

But since the south-to-north hikers significantly outnumber the north-to-sounth hikers, the Georgia lobsters are much less well known than the Maine peaches.

*ahem* As a point of fact, South Carolina produces more peaches than Georgia, despite the latter's misleading name. California actually produces the most peaches because, as the 5,000 pound gorilla of a state that they are, nobody can keep them from it. South Carolina peaches also taste better than Georgia's. Or California's. Which is why they are the only ones I would ever consider buying from the supermarket.

I'd still go for locally-grown, though, 'cause nothing beats them fresh off the tree. I've even been thinking I should plant some.

Ahhh...I see AGK has begun expressing a talent for interior decorating! Obviously the valance had to go.

You filled your day well even if you didn't go to school.
That variety is the cutest watermelon. I was so tempted to buy one at the grocery store but ended up with a giant one since I had to share.

I'm so glad you said potatoes. That reminded me of mashed potatoes, which reminded me I have a roast that needs to go in the crock pot. What a helpful person you are!

I find it extremely amusing that your clock makes barnyard noises.

I love AGK! He sounds so...entertaining :)

Do new alarm clocks last as long as the old ones? Because in all my life, I've had 2. This last one is nearly 20 years old and still hangs on.

But barnyard noises? That is so cool and tempting.

Oh my she does NOT look happy!

Wow! Your cat uses the computer? I wish mine could flush the toilet.

It's not too much to ask
