A Little Of The White Stuff...Sort Of.

The Sheep was rather pleased to hear today's forecast. It seemed that a little of the good old-fashioned snow was going to be sifting its way down to her today. Not much...just enough to put a bit of the Christmas Spirit into her hardened heart. It would be nice.

I was even on the road a bit earlier than usual today, despite yet another little dispute with the alarm clock: I say I set it. It says otherwise. Fortunately, I now have a "back-up" alarm in place so all is right with the world. I was, perhaps, twenty minutes from work when I needed to slow down for a stopped school bus. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw it: a flash of white!

"Snowflakes!" I cried, "Great, huge ones!"

I was giddy! I even took to giggling a bit. How very fortunate that I was able to glimpse the very first two flakes. And such big flakes as well...

And then...nothing. This was unusual. And come to think of it, those were oddly gi-normous snowflakes. We don't generally grow 'em that big in these here parts. A quick once-over of the windshield confirmed my misdiagnosis. My lovely white flakes of Christmas Cheer were not the snow I'd been celebrating.

They were, in fact, bird poop.

Now, you'd think that this would be enough to make me simply turn back, go home and spend the rest of the day hiding under the covers. This does not bode well given any level of mulling. But, I had a little back-up happiness upon which to draw. For, you see, I checked my mail today!

I don't do this every day. Particularly when bills are due and all. But, today I did. And it seems that our friend April has been busy with the gifting. Nestled within the warm confines of the package designated mailbox was a mailing envelope containing six skeins of mighty pretty yarn for The Sheep to drool over as well as a card wishing me a happy blogiversary! The feline inspectors have given everything a thorough examination and pronounced it "Most Excellent!"

Persephone, The Big Fluffy Kitty, is handily blocking your view of two balls of S. Charles Ritratto. I think she knows it comes from Auntie April. She knows who loves her...
Now, isn't that enough to make up for a little splatter on the windshield? More than enough, I tells ya! April, you are a gem! This is twice you've managed to time a little giftie right when it was needed the most. Thank you so very, very much!!!!!
And, if that wasn't enough, I had a little visit from the school nurse today. Normally this means that someone in my class has head lice and that we all have to have head inspections. Or that there is some sort of unexplained rash going around and that I will need to submit to a fungus search. Today, though, she came bearing fiber. No, not bran...

Wool Roving!!!!!

Free!!! It seems that I am the only spinner she knows. Go figure... She purchased it to attempt drop spindling with her Sunday School group and had no further use for it. She wondered if, perhaps, I might be able to do something with it. Um...yeah, I think I might be able to manage it. In return, I will be bringing my spinning wheel to school for her to try. We may have an upcoming fiber enthusiast in our midst! But this stuff is mine! It appears to be a blend and is quite soft. The staple length seems long and this should make for a good spin. Now the question is color. Whatever does this little pile of whiteness want to be? Perhaps a lovely blue? Hmm...

So, there you have it. Any day, even a Monday, can be a good one. I'm living proof! Go out there and enjoy your day! Just remember to drive carefully in the snow.

You never know...

Yipee- free yarn and fiber... you deserve it for all the good laughs you give you're fellow web socializers!
Blue is good...how about a blue and green combo?

I'm sorry your white flaky stuff turned out to be, well, the wrong white stuff! We missed out on the supposed First Snowfall here too - too bad.

I guess you'd better watch out when you decide to eat some snow, too. ;)

Well, it was snowing when I woke up. It was very nice to see finally, even if it didn't stick around too long. Too bad the headache that woke me up didn't go away as fast.

*snicker* My verification word is "frrigs".

It's so cold here - all of the birds are gone. Poof!
You know it's bad when the birds are smarter than the people.

Other than the, uh, snow you had a great day!!
As for color I think a lovely sky blue would be lovely. It would brighten up those dark gray days that we are sure to have.
