Job Search

I've been combing the job search sites. I'm looking for something in the "Lady Of Leisure" field. Or perhaps I would do well as a "Pampered Princess." I think I'd really shine in these endeavors.

I returned to work today after my holiday school vacation. It wasn't a bad day, by any stretch of the imagination. I had one staff person absent, but I knew that was happening. He'll be out tomorrow, too. My staff and I have an open policy with regard to planned absences. We're honest about the whole thing. If you need to take a couple extra days to get back from Mom's house out of state, take it. It is really so much easier than keeping track of the lies, I find. But, the sub. was a good one and the kidlets were pretty well-behaved so I really can't complain.

Except that I don't think I'm well-placed, career-wise.

I often hear about retirees becoming listless and bored after leaving the workplace. I just can't see that happening to me. I'm really quite good at not going to work. Sure, there were a couple of idle moments where I felt a little of the boredom sneaking in. But I took a nap. And when I woke up, I was over it. I watched TV. Did some knitting. Played with the cats. It was all good. Of course, I somehow managed to eat a metric ton of chocolate gooey things and that could be something of a problem should there be a fire and I need to leave the house without removing a wall. Otherwise, I think this could a good line of work for me. It doesn't seem to pay all that well...but I'm pretty sure I can get a grant or something. I'll let you know how it all goes.

Meanwhile, you have no idea how much I'd like to show you a finished sock. I started a whole blog just so I could show people my mediocre knits. I even bought a camera. I'm proud of my new sock. It is bright and colorful. It fits. It has a mate that is all of four inches in length and I'd probably want to show you that as well.

But Blogger hates me. Or my pictures. Or both. I still can't upload. I'm too tired to go to the trouble of uploading to Flickr after I've already started a post. And it seems that this problem is mine and mine alone. I see other people with pictures. Blogger likes them. They get picture privileges.

I do not. I have somehow offended Blogger and now you don't get to see my sock.

When I am a Lady Of Leisure, I am going to buy Blogger. Then I will make sure that everyone can post pictures. This is my vow to you.

I'd go with Pampered Princess, myself. It seems to imply land-rights, which is good if you want to buy, say, a herd of sheep.

Someday there will be photos. Until then, we'll have to imagine the socks.

"Lady of Leisure"... I kind of like that. Let me know if there are any openings. Although I'll have to practice at the napping thing.

Hail fellow "Pampered Princess"! Hail fellow "Lady of Leisure"! I totally hear ya on your desired occupation of choice. My job has now ended and may consider searching soon. However, dear Prince has told me to just enjoy my time off for the momento (last job was extremely stressful at the end). So for now I am livin' the good life. Will be even better when my baby girl returns to school next week. I love her muchly, but I also love the solitude too.

Happy New Year Sheepie!

I've found that a computer reset (something to do with Java going wonky) and/or changing the file name of the photo you're trying to upload will fix, oh, three-quarters of upload problems. FYI.

While you're looking for Lady of Leisure jobs, can you find someone who wants to pay $100 an hour for bookkeeping, and will let me take The Baby to work with me? Thanks. And good luck on the job search.

I don't get being bored, either. Maybe because we knit? (Religion totally confuses me - all these people seeking eternal life, who can't stay busy for an afternoon.)

When you find that dream job, LMK if there's a listing for a SAHM that pays the $134,000 I'm supposedly worth. ; )
Blogger is ticked off at me too. But only a little bit. I can upload pictures if I promise to do dirty, half-legal things to it later. LOL

I've been pondering career placement lately, too. Let me know when you figure this all out, okay?

Hopefully Blogger will figure itself out soon.

I always just upload my pictures to Flickr right after editing them. Then they are there waiting for me to put them on Blogger. I gave up on uploading directly to Blogger ages ago - too damn much stress! I couldn't take it.

I could go for a job like the one you are looking for - maybe we could job-share if you find one :)

I dunno...it depends on what you have to do to become PP or LoL. OTOH, those initials might be a giveway, eh?

Check out "Lottery Winner". It seems to pay well and affords liberal time off and vacations.
I don't suggest buying Blogger. You'll never have a moments peace with everyone complaining of how much trouble they have with it.

When I was on Blogger.. I used www.photobucket.com to upload my photos and didn't have a problem. I had a fear of Blogger suddenly becoming 'pay' and holding my uploaded photos hostage.

If you find that Pampered Princess position and you need an assistant I'm always available! :) I've been searching for the way to a life of leisurely knitting, reading and tv watching for years, but alas, no luck! :)

Good luck with the job search. If I hear of a Lady of Leisure opening, I'll let you know. Although those jobs usually come with a rich spouse and the job duties may not be entirely desirable.

Pampered Princess sounds wonderful. A great wardrobe, no cooking, and the first in your kingdom to get the new yarns and books! Sign me UP! And think of all the things we could ban that displease us...I couldn't be bored just by doing that...there's a lot of stuff that needs to be banned. Splitty yarn, poor directions, losing internet connectivity...

Good luck with the job search. I am currently going to photography school, in hopes that will someday be my profession, and I will no longer spend my days in a cubicle.
