In Your Best Interests

I sometimes wonder if I'm as committed to this relationship as I should be.  I mean, honestly!  If I truly cared about you all, would I not make more of an effort to do interesting things for your entertainment?  A seriously invested partner in blogging would probably take her vitamins and whatnot so she had the energy to do something else on a Sunday besides loll around like a sultan waiting for the invention of the robot maid.

I honestly do believe that robot maids are soon to be made available to the general public.  I don't want to waste time getting used to doing for myself when, any day now, my robot maid will be delivered and I'll have to learn how to lay around all over again.  It's best to stay in shape for the robotic servant revolution...

I was up early today and had high hopes for all sorts of interesting things upon which I might report come blogging time.  I slept on the couch again, so I didn't have far to go in order to start back on the sock knitting.  I made good progress.

But then I realized that I knit pretty boring socks.  I do this because I like to wear boring socks and it only makes sense that I craft plain footwear.

But that doesn't make for very interesting photography...

The Absurdly Gi-normous Kitty is always good for blog fodder.  And today, he didn't let me down!  He found his favorite Red Plastic Ring From The Top Of The Milk Container and cut loose all over the living room.  He romped, he frolicked, he leaped and he rolled.  He figured out how to use two paws to "snap" it as one might an elastic band and chased it merrily.  I rushed to get the camera while he continued his frantic plastic stalking.  This would make for a good blog post!  He was like a whirling dervish!!!

Until he saw the camera.  Then he looked at me like I was the crazy one...

He refused to so much as glance at the thing which had, mere moments ago, given him joy beyond measure.  It wasn't until the camera was safely back in its bag that the AGK resumed his romp.

I didn't even bother trying again.  I think he read the comments yesterday about his "cute face."  Now all he wants to do is make cute faces.

Admittedly, it is a rather cute face.  But cute faces are not helpful in every single circumstance.

I finally decided to just take a nap.  This, of course, is not going to solve he problem since napping won't make me any more interesting than I was before snoozing.  Sure, I'll have those cool creases on my face from the pillow and it's always fun to see how much you can drool in a one hour nap session.  However, that isn't so much "interesting" as it is "frightening to behold."  But napping was all I could think of at that point.  I could only hope that I'd maybe have  a really cool dream about doing something interesting and then tell everyone about that.

But I didn't.  Or if I did, I don't remember it.  I awoke right back at square one.

Finally, I decided to spin for a while.  Spinning is interesting to some.  Not everyone spins or, if they do, they probably don't spin exactly the way I do.  I figured it would be unique.  I actually got a bit excited.  I am a spinner!  I am creating yarn from bits of fluff, carded by mine own hands!  I am an artisan, by God!  There is nothing you can do to make spinning anything less than utterly fascinating!

Plain, white wool.  You gotta be kidding me...

And, please note that the plastic thingie is right there in the background, sitting untouched while the previously interesting, camera-shy cat sleeps in the nappin' basket.  This is the most uninteresting house in all the land.

I suppose that I should be grateful for the calm.  They say that the worst curse anyone can be saddled with is living in "interesting times."  And it's hard to say that any day with a nap in it is a bad one.  I'm OK with not being the most interesting person on the block.

But I still wish I could have maybe done some bungee jumping or juggled fire.  You know...just to keep you entertained.

AGK's expression cracked me up. "Whutchoo lookin' at, Mom?"

I don't have an interesting comment to make. I do have an interesting word verification, though: furefi. It sounds so feline and fluffy, doesn't it? Appropriate for a comment about an AGK.

I think your sock is anything but boring - what yarn are you using?
AGK just wanted to make sure you got his "best" side - he has a certain image to maintain y'know!

well, that's quite a full blog post - sounds like you're doin' better, and when you get one of those robot maids - please tell me where I can order. The sun finallly came out which was great - but showed me some serious house cleanin' needs to happen STAT. (and at my house we prefer the BLUE milk ring, thank you very much *grin*)

I am endlessly entertained by the "cute face". I think my cats know this and use it to their advantage.

Well soon-to-be-Jane Jetson [with Rosie the robot maid] you'd better practice getting your hair to stay flicked out and totally immovable!

My word verification is 'colle' - is that said Gomer Pyle style?

Sorry; your post and the verification have given me a trip down memory lane!

Any picture of the AGK (or the BFK, for that matter) is plenty o' entertaining for me!

Knitting AND spinning in one post? Are you feeling alright?

The sock is coming along wonderfully. It's so pretty. Not boring at all.
AGK sure is cute. Does he realize he has a fan club?
My daughter is majoring in robotics in college. I'll tell her to make that robot maid a priority.

The AGK now looks very innocent, too. Cute and innocent. I think maybe you've been making up the whole bad boy thing. ;)

I forgot what I was going to leave as a comment - my word verification has claimed all brain activity that can be had on a Monday morning....
disco
I can only imagine it is related to the AGK's getting down with the red milk top sealy-deally-bopper.

The sock colors are lively enough for a Monday morning.

"It's always fun to see how much you can drool in a one-hour nap session" - LOL.
