Running Out Of Options

It figures.  The one day that I do an appreciable amount of knitting and it has to be the day I spend it on the Invisibility Shaw.  I know, I know...  I can see you wincing and cringing.  You don't have to hide it.  I understand.  I have never before been so sick of four rows and have run out of interesting ways to photograph this thing.  I shall spare you further evidence of my imprisonment in a Knitting Time/Space Loop until the thing is either blocking or finished.  I'm not saying I won't keep mentioning it.  I'm just gonna give you a respite from the pictures.

But, I'm running out of knitting-type blog fodder.  Project Monogamy is killing me.  I have always had difficulty with commitment.  There are any number of people out there who would be more than willing to sit down with you over a cup of coffee and share this fascinating aspect of my personality in an in-depth and, perhaps, less than flattering manner.  But I am making an effort here.

Heck, I even went so far as to download viewing material which might keep me glued to one spot long enough to actually make some progress in between having to get off the couch and move around a bit before the back locks up like a the Tin Man in high humidity.  Although why I suddenly felt that I was the sort of person who is a fan of Burn Notice, I know not.  But, apparently I am.  I downloaded the entire first season.  And that, my friends represents a true commitment.  If you consider my location and the speed of my DSL connection, you will come to appreciate my efforts.  An entire season takes A. Very. Long. Time. To. Download.  But it was really worth the effort.  I guess I am a the kind of person who is a fan of Burn Notice.  Who Knew?

But that still shawl-related and not going to make for the bloggy goodness I am trying to send your way.

So now there's the cat training.  Given her love of Greenies and her demands that I provide them every, single time I step into the kitchen, I felt that I was due for some reciprocity.  She should do something to earn them.  Nothing special.  Just a little trick or something.  It seemed only fair.

Now, deciding to train the cat to do a trick is the sort of thing only a person desperate for blog material will do.  It is also the equivalent of getting up in the morning and spontaneously deciding that you are going to pursue a career in worm herding.  You gotta give someone props for trying something new.  But is isn't really going to work out.  The worms are going to squiggle and squirm in any direction they darned well please and it is highly likely that a few are going to get squished by the horse.  And the cat isn't going to do a trick because she also has her own ideas about the direction in which she wants to travel in this life.

To date, the best I've been able to do is to get her to walk in a circle.  This is something she was going to do anyway as she gets pretty excited at the thought of Greenies and will circle merrily as a way of sharing her joy.  But I have decided that it is in my best interest from a mental health standpoint to believe that I have "taught" her this trick and that I am a genius as an animal trainer.

Meanwhile, The Big, Fluffy Kitty is a little dizzy from all the circling and is probably in danger of tossing up her Greenies because of the nausea.  This is what comes from a rainy day, lengthy download time and a commitment to one project no matter what the cost to one's better judgement.

My mom is kind of cute when she's delusional.  And I'm getting a lot of Greenies.  It's all working out from my perspective.

I make my cat sit for treats.. I'm not entirely sure whether I taught her to do it or not.. you never know with cats.

Any time a cat does what you want I say call it a trick. Walking in a circle counts.
Monogamy makes for difficult blogging. I'm interested in the Invisibility shawl. Do show a photo soon.

Is that an empty bag of Greenies? No wonder she's a bit dizzy!

1. There are an infinite number of interesting ways to photograph the Invisibility Shawl. Take it for a walk around town. Pose with it in the nude and use a mirror. Wait, maybe that is getting a little too interesting...

2. Where do you download your viewing stuff from? I could see vegging in front of the computer occasionally and knitting my little heart out. No cable or satellite = less knitting time than desirable.

3. BFK is clearly saying, "Give me more, Human, or it won't be pretty!" with her eyes.

I like the idea of taking the Invisibility shawl on a scavenger hunt a la the YH and her traveling sock ...

I surprised myself by liking Burn Notice too. I never would have even noticed it if DH hadn't have wanted to watch it.

Hey, RM? You there?

I think that HM has maybe been getting into the Nyquil or even the yellow goopy stuff again. Did you realize that she posted on the blog about cat training? Cat training. Training the cat. I ask you. As if the BFK wasn't a grown-up adult type cat with her own (very fixed) agenda.

Perhaps you need to distract her with something. Maybe you could let her wind some sock yarn? No, no, I don't mean let her cast on for something new. I am aware that Project Monogamy is still in progress, after all. But a little fibery treat could go a long way to preventing cat training thoughts.

You can even blame the idea on the Yarn Harlot since I read that she "treats" herself to winding of the sock yarns from time to time when casting on something new isn't on the to-do list but the to-knit list is just a wee bit overwhelming.

I love Burn Notice but I'm not surprised, I love Bruce Campbell, Sharon Gless way back from her days on Switch. Liking Jeffrey Donovan surprised me though.

Project Monogamy sounds tedious, if fruitful. More so if you try out Kmkat's ideas.

I want to see the Invisibility Shawl too. I've been cogitating the making of one so need to see it again to consider and ponder.

That is a really cute picture of the BFK!

I think the BFK would really like it if you taught her how to get her own Greenies ;)

You know she's humoring you, right? I can hear my cats snickering now if I tried to even pretend to teach them anything.

I am so sick of project monogamy here - and it's my own design. I need to get it done in a month. I hates deadlines. I hates them when it's my own fault (I said, ever so casually months ago - oh yes, it will be done by June 1st if not before).

If not before.

I can't stand myself right now.

And the sheep grower sold most of the Shetlands. Except the teenagers.

Project monogamy is for the birds. Honestly. Every time I try it, it turns out badly (although not usually for my cats; you've taken it to a whole new level).

I have actually managed to semi-sort-of-train one of our cats to come when I call him. He was completely unresponsive to my rational arguments that "it's 10:30 already and there are coyotes out there," but we now have a deal: he will come when I call him and, while waiting for him to put in an appearance (because he still has to feign some semblance of reluctance) I will pluck a leaf or two from the catnip plant and give them to him as soon as he comes inside. I am sure he thinks of this as having me trained.

(The catnip plant still lives a year after I bought it because it is in a pot inside a wire cage.)

(My friend Roxie sent me a CCL set too. Wonder why.)
