The Break-Up: Part Two.

It has been a tough weekend for the Invisibility Shawl.  It had to hear some harsh truths.  It had to accept that The Sheep can't be tied down for long and that, eventually, she will run for greener pastures.  It handled the whole thing in much the same way as any of us will deal with the ending of a relationship.  I don't think it saw it coming.  Hence, there were some very tense moments.

There were tears.

Thankfully we had the tissues with the aloe in them.  Otherwise the shawl might have gotten a red nose.

Binging always seems to come next in the mourning process.

I attempted to snag a peanut butter cup, but the shawl tried to bite me.  We were in a pretty bitter phase of the process at that point, I fear...

Things went a little over-the-top after that.  I honestly didn't expect this and I wasn't really prepared to deal with drama at this level.

When enmeshed in a break-up, it is never a good idea to mix medications...

Once I pried the bottles from the shawl's grasp, it took advantage of my needing to go lock up the meds and began drunk-dialing my cell.  This is more along the lines of predictable breakup behavior, but is still not fun.

I finally just started letting everything go to voice mail.

Eventually, though, things will always run their course.  No one can maintain that level of angst for long.  Even shawls need to take it down a notch.  And, once they do, they are able to start seeing the new possibilities.  And so it was that the Invisibility Shawl took a deep, cleansing breath, put on a spiffy new outfit and headed out to meet another special someone:

It cleaned up pretty good, I must say.  I actually had a little moment of regret for a second there...

At 11:45 this morning, as we waited for our Mother's Day dinners to arrive, Mommy Sheep said the words, "I see that the divorce is now final."  And it was.  It was a nice moment, really.  I know that the shawl and I had a pretty rocky time of it at the end there.  Words were said.  There were unkind thoughts on both sides.  But now that all is said and done, I am happy for the shawl.  It has met another and one who will treat it the way it should be treated.  Mommy Sheep will give it the love that it deserves.  It's a pretty darned fine shawl after all.  The yarn, dyed at the masterful hands of none other than Susie at Perchance To Knit, is so very lovely.  Soft...drapey...made for a shawl, I do believe.  Or a nice, delicate scarf...

I have a bunch left over since I did the smaller version of the shawl.

Maybe I am ready for a new relationship?

Would it be a start of a real relationship, or a rebound? Gotta be careful in the first stages after a final breakup. Maybe a few one night flings (ok,one or two week flings) might be in order? I am glad the shawl found someone to love it. It really is pretty in all its abreviated glory.

Wow, that's wonderfully pretty! What a great color, and a fun way to dramatize the end of an era!

Sheepie you crack me up! But who knew the shawl would be such a drama llama? It's always the beautiful ones, isn't it?

But I'd watch out for rebound - definitely time to have a fling - how's the sock yarn lookin? Is it giving you any little "come hither" looks?

I am so happy in my new home!!! No more tears, no more tamtrums, and no more giving you a hard time. This new home has made me feel wanted and loved. Imagine all the hours we spent together and now to be very much appreciated by MS. She can't stop talking about how talented you are, and those beautiful colors are to be envied by all. I am so glad that you found me this new home. Thank you very much,

What a relief - there were a few tense moments when I feared Invisibility Shawl was going to become Stalked Shawl. I hate it when the ex goes through THAT phase!!

I love reading your blog, you're a gifted writer and that was a very entertaining FO story! I should be cleaning up right now instead of indulging in a fun read. Naturally here I am. The shawl is lovely and I'm sure well loved in its new home.

Walk away from the leftover yarn. In fact, don't walk, run; any yarn related to a scarf that drunk-dials your phone when you try to move on is not to be trusted.

Seriously, though -- it turned out beautifully; your mom is one lucky Sheep!
