Well-Timed Bullets

Happy Wednesday and welcome to Sheepish Annie's Wednesday Night Bullet Post.  Tonight's bullets are brought to you courtesy of the fact that I have knit not a stitch.  I'm hoping to distract you from that...

*Wednesday is Farmer's Market day.  I have done fairly well with making my way to where the vegetables live once per week.

*I do not like vegetables.

*Here's today's haul:

Heirloom 'maters, onions, carrots and blueberries...

*Blueberries were the goal.  The other stuff is incidental.  I'm planning on blueberry waffles this weekend.

*Here's some artsy shots I like to call my Boldness Of Onions Series:

*That's 'cuz the onions are all up front and whatnot...

*I stopped at the grocery store on the way to the Farmer's Market to get some chicken.  Vidalia onions were also on special so I got some of those thinking that there wouldn't be any at the Farmer's Market.  But there were...

*So I dried the Vidalias in Mr. Dehydrator for future use.

*My insurance company discontinued its rewards program for logging exercise time so now I won't earn panini presses and t-shirts for all my hard work.  I'm a little irritated because I had 800 points saved up when they discontinued the program.

*Which isn't fair to them at all because I closed the email account they would have used to alert me to their program's end date.

*However, I do find it to be a little bit weird that the program ended on July first.  I've been logging points for weeks.  And weeks.  You'd think they'd stop letting me do that if the program no longer existed...

*Tonight's dinner was meant to be roasted chicken breast and veggies.  I saved time by putting them all in one pot.

*Which would have been brilliant had I thought to cook the hearty vegetables a bit before adding the chicken.

*I ate chicken for dinner.

*The veggies had to cook longer and they're finally done but now I don't really want them because I'm all full from the chicken.

*Eating healthy is really hard.  You have to do math and stuff.

*Time...temperature...rate of chicken consumption...

*In the interest of full disclosure, I feel I must admit that I did not actually eat the carrots I bought last week.  I tried.  I really did.

*By the time I convinced myself it was a good idea, they'd gotten kinda mushy.

*Again...timing is everything.

*In case anyone was wondering, this was the first time I've cooked chicken since bringing home the Absurdly Gi-normous Kitty.

*Also in the event of wondering-type behavior, I must tell you that AGKs really like chicken.  The scent seems to drive them wild.

*When they are denied chicken, they will resort to sneaking sips of your coffee.  Just so you know...

*Big, Fluffy Kitties do not do this sort of thing.  They are ladylike and understand that a woman's coffee is not to be toyed with.

*Kitty lips in the coffee...GAH!!!!!!!!!!!

How'd I do?  Were you thoroughly distracted from my lack of knitting?  I certainly hope so.  I'll see if I can't flip some yarn around later tonight just to make up for my irresponsible ways.  No promises, though.

It's not like I've had my recommended daily dose of coffee after all...

AGK after coffee in the evening? That begs the question, will the Sheepie and BFK be allowed to sleep? And, did you see Princess Chunk is up for adoption? I think she would scare AGK, or eat him.

Waff-ooz! for the weekend!!!

And math is really good for you: sort of like vegetables.

Neatnik eats vegetables. Just sayin'.

Yes, I'd like to order a set of the "Boldness Of Onions" portraits, uhh, 8 X 10 should do. Do those come autographed by the artist or what?

I don't suppose kitties of either the Big or Ginormous variety produce long, slimy, utterly disgusting ropes of drool from both sides of their mouths while you are cooking chicken? Like, say, big hairy dogs? I had to get out the mop to clean the floor after making dinner tonight. No kidding. Score one for the kitties.

I love the "Boldness of Onions" series. The shadows in the second picture are fabulous.

The AGK drinking coffee is a terrifying thought. I'm a bit scared for you right now. You might want to check in with us in the morning, just so we know you made it through the night.

Just in case that 'mater is in danger of not being eaten, I'll gladly offer to take it off your hands.

Huzzah for the blueberry waffles! Don't forget to show us a pic of those!

I usually eat carrots raw with dip, but if you want them cooked, you could try them sliced fine and sauteed with olive oil, honey, coarse salt, and fresh grated ginger. Deelish!

I honestly thought I was following your example when I munched on carrots Saturday evening...

(For the record: they were tasty. Even more so without the dip I made...)

AGK on caffiene?! That's a really scary thought. Did you sleep last night?

A couple of my kitties will drink anything left unattended (and by unattended I mean glancing away for 1/10th of a second).

yes the distraction technique worked extremely well
but I shall not be so easily swayed tomorrow - just sayin'

Yum...those veggies look good, especially the blueberries. I do love me some blueberries. We have a vendor at our farmers market who sells fresh, pasture-raised chicken. OMG. It's the best chicken in world!

My cats won't eat anything but they're dry crunchy cat food. Oh, and the milk at the end of the cereal in the morning. No chicken, fish, beef. It's kinda good because I don't have to watch my plate all the time but it's weird because all of my previous cats were big time carnivores.

Nice produce pics! And blueberry waffles sound YUMMY~!

LOL - my cat likes my coffee, too. It's so gross!

Veggies - what are those? We're living on pre-packaged frozen meals this summer. Gotta find a way to SLOW DOWN!

Carrots sliced and cooked in a little butter with some brown sugar added at the very end... Super tasty and they still count as a vegetable. Just sayin'.

How come I don't get a verification word again. That's twice now it's said "visual verification" instead of giving me a word. Is this some creepy thing that is using the isight on the new mac to see that I'm really a person and not a spambot. Paranoia-R-Us at your service...

p.s. and if so how come it can't figure out that I'm not a spambot. It just made me do a word after all.

AGK on coffee. Hmm, that sounds dangerous to me. I used to keep a glass of ice water on my night stand until I was woken up several times with an ice cold shower when my kitties dumped it over trying to drink it.

Cats named Jack like coffee too. In fact if their coloring weren't so different I would assume that AGK's & cats named Jack were related somehow. You should see what happens when you try to eat string cheese slowly - if you have a good reaction someone might be dying their hair.

I am having trouble wrapping my mind around the concept of a cat that likes coffee. Weird. Really weird.

If you are feeling adventurous -- and have some handy kitchen appliance that will do the cutting-up for you -- try shredding the carrots, then saute-ing them in a little butter with a splash of wine and/or fresh herbs. Yum.

Love the dishcloth (you notice I came over here so it wouldn't balk at all the comments!)

Teddy the dog loves coffee. And water out of our glasses. And tea, preferably with lemon.

Where did we go wrong?

My recommended daily dose of coffee is generally sabotaged by The Daughter's running feud with the Wonderful Coffeemaker. It makes terrific coffee for me; for her, it generally spews grounds all over the counter, in the drawers, and on the floor.

Guess who has coffee duty now?
