Whoops...

OK, here's the thing: I had a very, very busy day today. Maybe for most people it wouldn't be considered a full schedule. But, for me, it was quite the social whirlwind. Hence, I am posting at 11:30 on a Saturday night just like I'm some sort of party girl. Shameful, really...

Mommy Sheep and I rendezvoused at the parental compound (also known as the suburban ranch I like to call my childhood home) and headed out to the craft fair just a teensy bit behind schedule. This was due to a certain Sheep's inability to roll out of bed and get herself put together in anything remotely resembling a timely fashion.

A good time was had and many dollars spent, although I noted a marked lack of Popsicle stick art. I still feel that this is an untapped market and one that I could quite handily corner should I make the decision to abandon the knitting that has so filled me with despair of late. I also observed a decline in the number of participants in the event and wondered if my joining this particular association of crafters with my fine renderings in this new medium might be welcome.

It is also entirely possible that the heat was getting to me at that point. It was hot today. Not just "regular hot." It was "stupid hot." 90 degrees and humid. There was sweating involved. A great deal of it, actually. This is not what I expect from my weather on a September day in Maine. The living room temperature here at Sheep Headquarters, once again, registered a grump-inducing 92 degrees.

This was unfortunate since I needed to ready myself for a trip over to Baby Brother Sheep's house in order that I might help ring in the birthday of Future SIL Sheep. It was sort of hard to be my sparkling social best while I was wringing out my hair and attempting to peel my shirt from my back. Still, it was a nice visit and there was cake so I was able to find my inner socialite and participate fully in the festivities. I was just a little "limp" is all.

So there you go. It's a poor excuse for leaving you behind for almost two whole days, but it's the best I have. Tomorrow I'll try to be a bit more detailed with the posting and maybe even share a few of my purchases from the craft fair with you all. In the meantime, I'm off to see if I can't catch the re-broadcast of the Torchwood premier that I managed to miss what with all the gallivanting about. BBC America is generally pretty good about repeating these things so I should be able to catch it at some point between now and whenever.

I am also a little bit tired and should probably consider a little bit of sleep at some point. All this gadding about is really rather exhausting...

Gadding about is exhausting, but at least there was cake to help keep your strength up. It sounds like you had a fun day. I'd love to see what you bought at the craft fair.

I'm sorry you were uncomfortable in the heat, but I have to say I loved it!

You lousy stay-out-sheep! :o)

Sounds like agood day - and there was the cake and all to ease the heat stroke. After all, if you sweat off three pounds at the craft fair, you must replenish your reserves with Future SIL Sheep's b-day cake.

PS - What happens when she is truly SIL Sheep? That kinda looks/sounds silly, don't you agree?

I do so love to read your posts. Your prose has that quaint, 1920s veddy veddy British air about them, ya know? It's probably because Maine is practically adjacent to Merry Olde, separated only by that annoyingly broad Pond. There is a marked lack of Britishness here in the Midwest, unless you count Monty Python and that, while certainly British, is quite different from the quaint tone referred to above.

Re: Popsicle art. I think that, should you venture into this clearly unexplored territory, you ought to make the 2008 county/state fair your goal. "Art on a Stick" could be a welcome cultural embellishment at the fair. It would blend so delightfully with all the food-like items on a stick available at those venues. I would gladly save all the Popsicle sticks used here at Chez Kat for your potential adornments. The newly-purchased ones are so... sterile. Much better to use ones that bear the evidence of former chocolate-y (and grape-y and blue raspberry-y) goodness. It adds authenticity, don't you know?

:-)

yesterday was ucky-hot. We wasted most of the day complaining about the heat. Today, the weather is better but once again, I am wasting another day sleeping and eating and sleeping...I have a cold and am fighting off an infection so this feels about right.

It's still really hot here, too. I'm ready for it to end for the season. Although I'll soon be saying "It's too cold!" :)
